Job
Summary:
Responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in
the enforcement of laws and the
prevention of crimes; conducting and participating in
general investigations of crimes,
accidents, and cases; controlling traffic flow and enforcing
state and local traffic
regulations; and performing a variety of technical and
administrative tasks in support of the
Department.
Scope of
Responsibility:
Working under limited supervision, incumbent makes
non-routine choices within
established policies and procedures. Incumbent is able to
perform advanced
troubleshooting or analysis. Incumbent must maintain
cooperative relationships with other
departments within the city and with the public.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Police Officer I
Position
requires specialized training beyond high school that can be obtained in one
year
or
less, and less than one year of related work experience.
Police Officer II
Position
requires specialized training beyond high school that can be obtained in one
year
or
less, and two years of work experience equivalent to that of a police officer.
Police Officer III
Position
requires specialized training beyond high school that can be obtained in one
year
or
less, and 10 years of work experience equivalent to that of a police officer.
Master Police Officer
Position
requires specialized training beyond high school that can be obtained in one
year
or
less, and 16 years of work experience equivalent to that of a police officer.
